Many people navigate through this world feeling very unfulfilled. Some reasons may be rooted in a person’s inability to find their “why,” they may be working at a job they don’t enjoy or they may be having a hard time reaching success through their passion. There are many challenges faced during the journey of seeking one’s purpose, but the key to attaining it is grounded in perseverance, fearlessness and drive.

Although there are major steps take to for a person to reach their end goal, hard work is required to find their “why,” and with that also comes patience, research and faith. Betting on yourself and taking the “big leap” can take you further than you’ve ever imagined.

I can speak from experience. In the words of one of my favorite literary figure, Langston Hughes, my journey of becoming a freelance journalist and entrepreneur wasn’t a “crystal stair.”

I’ve faced many obstacles to get to where I am now. I’ve been denied from opportunities, turned down roles that didn’t fit my purpose and even dealt with depression during the process. The only stability in my journey was my faith (though it sometimes waivered) and my trust in God.

When I came up with the idea to create my business, Brianna Rhodes Writes, I had no idea where to start, but I knew it was a part of my life’s plan. Since I already had the skills to launch the platform, I started doing research to find a website designer and looked up similar Black-owned writing/editing services. Over time, everything fell into place so effortlessly. I was able to gather all of the resources that I needed. I launched my business a year and a half later on April 8, 2020. To this day still glad that I betted on myself, despite the issues I faced. If I didn’t take that “big leap”, I wouldn’t be writing this blog post right now!

If you are currently dealing with hardships, it is important to remember that you are already equipped with the necessary resources to make your dreams come true. Through research, passion and your natural-born talents, you can do anything. The main obstacle many people face before reaching their goal is not taking the risk to “jump” despite already having the necessary tools that guaranteed to make you soar.

You may have your doubts or you may have your concerns, but I’ve personally learned that getting out of your comfort zone will open doors for you and will put you in a position where opportunities will be knocking at your door.

If you still have your doubts or are in need of a little motivation, The Black Owned Network recommends you to pick up, “The Big Leap” by New York Times bestselling author, Gay Hendricks. Hendricks will give you all the confidence that you need to move forward and take that big LEAP!

Hendricks motivates readers to push their limits and let go of all of the fears that are holding them back in order to “liberate authentic greatness.” It touches on the four “hidden barriers” and “zones” that people need to be aware of in order to tap into their limitless potential.

If starting your business is a part of your why, then let The Black Owned Network help you get through the process.  Black-owned businesses are needed in our community now more than ever. Buying Black is the future.

Remember, you have a purpose. If you have not found it yet, you will.
